Update - and a plea for help!

Well I failed with the regular updates! Didn't realise I hadn't done one since November...
So, what's happened?

Well I finished another acoustic recording, Smother, which you can hear on this site! More about this on the plea for help in a minute.
Other than that I've not done much musically. It's really hard to find time for it when juggling work and family life! I really do need to start making more time for it as I feel kinda lost without it...

Personal-life-wise we had a v nice Xmas, had all of my girlfriend's family round to ours, then spent a couple of days at other family houses.
I had my birthday on 19th Feb, again another family gathering at ours which was nice.
I've been playing football at least twice a week (except for 2 weeks off for a sprained ankle, should have had longer off but I missed it too much so I hobbled about the pitch for a the last week or so!).
My weight loss is coming on really well, I've now lost 19lbs in about 3 and a half months, which may not sound like much but I've been making sure this new lifestyle is sustainable. Basically when the weightloss stops I will be able to keep it off, which is something I've always struggled with in the past!

So yeah, other than that I've not been up to much, just enjoying my little family :)

So, now to the plea for help...

I seem to be having a musical identity crisis.
I've become very bored of Metal, which is why I thought I would strip my songs down and record them acoustically... but if I'm honest my 2 new recordings bore me a little...
So I need some help...!
Please could you go onto the video page on here and check out the video for "Haunting Me" (simple video done my Uncle without my permission, I like it though) and compare that song to the acoustic songs on here... and tell me which you prefer?
I'm trying to work out what to do;
either stick with the acoustic plan,
go back to playing rock/metal,
or do both (which would make it easy to perform solo live, but I can still have recordings that are interesting!).

Your help will be seriously appreciated!!

So, what have I been up to?

Well I ended up not going to "The Voice" auditions; I'd booked the day off work for it but then had to swap the day off because my girlfriend had to go to a family funeral, and unfortunately that was (obviously) more important. I doubt I'd get that far in a singing contest anyway, I do think I'm a good singer, but I think my talent is more about the overall song, and not really about outstanding vocal...

I played an acoustic gig at the Thomas Kemp pub in Kemp Town, Brighton. Really nice place, and quite an interesting acoustic night! Normally I find acoustic nights quite boring - they tend to be full of people who are great at writing lyrics, but not so good at singing them and/or adding an interesting melody - but this one had a comedian and a magician, as well as a good mix of interesting and less-interesting performers.
My set was only 2 songs, played "Sorry" and "Deity Position Vacant". I was definitely a bit rusty but it went down well.
The plan is to start playing acoustic nights regularly, get back into performing, and see if I can make a name for myself in Brighton.

Other than this I've not really done much, just settling into my new job and new home! Will update when something interesting happens...

P.S. Someone kindly emailed me off the email form on this site, asking how The Voice audition went. Unfortunately I wasn't able to reply, seems the email address they added to the form was wrong/made up/spelt incorrectly or something. So thank you for asking, and now you know why I didn't reply! :)

It's been long enough....!!

Well I've been busy!
My daughter is now 6 months old, so that flew by!
We've moved to Brighton too; we were a bit bored in Tonbridge, nothing to do there at all! We're now living in a massive flat right by the sea, loving it!
I've finally started recording again too, so there should be new recordings on here soon.

I have an audition for the new BBC1 show "The Voice" on Wednesday 2nd November, I'm hoping it'll be nothing like the X Factor, I might have a chance of getting somewhere! We'll see what happens... :D

Not much else to update really, done loads but prob nothing worth putting on here! Will try to update more often...
In the meantime here's a pic of my new keyboard player... ;)

Well, that was a very busy 6 or 7 months!

My current relationship has taken a big step: we have a baby on the way! My 1st (and her 1st), so that's major change in my life...
Because of this we decided to move out of London. After a false start in Croydon (never going back there again...) we are now living in the beautiful town of Tonbridge, in a bungalow right by the river. Loving it!
Had to get a new job too, as the commute was just horrendous! Now working in a call centre in Redhill, not exactly a big change job-wise but it's much closer to home, so much better all round :)

So yeah, as it's been massively busy I've not really done much musically! But now my life has settled down a little you can expect some new recordings soon, and hopefully a few gigs too :)

The ups and downs of life

Down: The dating didn't quite work out, was a shame but was my decision. Just wasn't right for me. But we move on...

Up: I'M FINALLY MOVING TO LONDON!!!!
Went to view a few places last weekend and ended up putting a deposit on a room in a shared house in North London. I move in this Saturday, seriously cannot wait!!
Been wanting to live in London since I was about 20, and now I finally am!
Hopefully I'll have some gigs booked in London soon, and then I can see if there is any real chance of doing something with this solo project :)

Oh, and on a funny note: I got an email today saying I have an audition for X-Factor! I applied in November, and had forgotten all about it!
I'm v tempted to go for it, I doubt I would get that far, but if I got onto TV at least I will get noticed, and can then use that to get signed etc...

Hey, been pretty busy, so not got round to typing on here for a good few weeks.
Here's what I've been up to since last time:

My birthday weekend:
Had my 1st night out in London on Friday 19th (playing gigs there doesn't count), drank in a few bars in Camden and then went to Sin City. Stayed in a hotel in King's Cross.
The next day I got up, went to Euston, and got a train to Manchester. Booked into my hotel, recovered for a few hours, then met up with friends for a few drinks. Ended up in Jillys Rock World.
On the sunday I met up with some of the Cordingley's and had a few drinks with them. Ended up playing a punchbag arcade machine in a gay bar, was quite funny... :D
Then back to Guildford, got home around midnight, with work the next day. Definitely paid for it the whole next week, was sooooooo tired...

Since then I have had a date in London, met up since it too, it's early days but it's going well :)

Still working at the same job, which means I'm doing ok at it as they've not got rid of me yet!
Am looking to move into central London v soon, so the search for somewhere to live has started! Any of you want a nice quiet wannaberockgod as a flat mate you know what to do!

So yeah, not the epic post I was expecting to give, but I decided not to give too much details so as not to bore you all...

... and it's not what I 1st thought.
I tend to be at my happiest in a good relationship, and I was thinking that is what I'm missing.
But now I think it might not be that...

I am a lapsed adrenaline junky.
I love rollercoasters, I love sports, I've even revelled in the very few fights I've had (since school).
I think I need to get the adrenaline pumping again, it's been too long...

A day in the life of a wannaberockgod...

So I called this blog the life of a wannaberockgod, so here's a day in that life.

Yesterday I had a busy day.

Got up at 9am, had some breakfast, then went into Guildford to pay someone to inflict pain on me (back wax, hate having it done, but a hairy back is disgusting so it has to be done!). On the way I stopped by the bank, and found out a direct debit had gone out that I'd forgotten about. So I got paid on Friday, paid for my hotel room in Manc next week, and my phone bill, worked out nicely how much money I needed to get me through the week, then that bill went out...

After 15 mins of pain (been getting it done for years now and it still bloody hurts...) I went home, rounded up some computer games that I never play, then got back on the bus. Then got the train to Woking (had a weekly ticket so cost me nothing, thankfully) and went to CEX to sell the games. Got £30, so I'm ok for the week now.

The girl that was serving me there was pretty friendly, but the girl serving someone else next to her was even more so. Instead of tending to her customer she wanted to be involved in our conversation. Made it very obvious she was interested in me, shame she wasn't my type, might not have been spending Valentine's Day alone today!
I also had at least another 5 girls pass me on the street and properly eye me up! Considering no-one has seemed interested in me ever since I moved to Guildford, it made a very nice change! I actually started getting paranoid, like maybe I had something on my face... :D

So I went home, stopping at Tesco on the way to do a food shop. Then home, put shopping away, picked up the electricity card, and went to the shop to get some electricity for the meter.
Back home, had my 1st decent meal of the day, and chilled out for a bit. Was feeling really restless though, so I decided to go to the gym for the 1st time in ages. Seriously over-did it though, aching like mad today :D
Went home again and just chilled for the rest of the evening.

Now, most of this may seem like nothing, like I just had a normal day with nothing happening. But consider this: for months now if I haven't had to leave the house I haven't. And as I only started my job 2 weeks ago that meant staying in my room for weeks on end. Was obviously depressed.
So, to me, yesterday proves I'm finally over that. Not only did I do quite a lot of different things, but it was my 1st day off that week so I could have been forgiven for just wanting to chill out. And normally if I'm out and then go home, I can't be bothered going out again. Yesterday I went home and went out again quite a few times :)

Today it's Valentine's Day. After years of never being single I've now been single for very nearly 2 years. Valentine's Day alone is never nice...
So I'm feeling a bit down today, but I'm happy about yesterday.

Sooooooooo tired right now, but now I've started building this site I'm struggling to stop!
Need sleep, got work in the morning. Admittedly it is only 10pm, but when you've had no forced bed-time for 2 years it's hard to suddenly start getting up at 6.30am every morning! Hence the heavy lids right now...

As you have probably guessed, this is just me rambling so I have a test blog on here.
I WILL post some more interesting blogs very soon...
